Becoming an author, and a good one for that matter, is not an easy task. It requires devotion and commitment in what you set to undertake. Authors who have spent thousands of years writing a single book are enough examples of what it takes to become a renowned author. Some people may think that becoming an author is easy and seat down to come up with a book. Well, this is possible as majority people can do that. However, the big question is, what are you presenting to the reader?
Some people have written books that have spent many years in the shelves of bookshops and libraries because nobody wants to read them. This is just because they did not write interesting content. As such, you need to follow the following guidelines if you are interested in becoming an author:
Stop talking so much and engage in writing. Many people spend so much time talking about what they want to do. Instead of doing this, get the proposal of your book together and start working on it.
Be interested in everything that revolves around the topic you intend to write on. It does not matter where you hear information that can help you come up with a comprehensive product, just listen.
Ensure that you are always the worst critic to your work. This is very important because if you do not do that, somebody else will play that role and unfortunately, this might be the reader.
Start by putting all that you have in the book. Then narrow it down once you are done.
Always have the reader in your mind. Perceive your writings from the reader's view and criticize it as if you are not the one who came up with the content.
Ask others to go through your writing and criticize you from an honest perspective. Rectify where they say it is not quite good.
Persons who are interested in becoming an author must be ready to get tired. This is because the entire process is not easy. Nevertheless, the fruits are rewarding once you become a renowned author.
