Reading is great for stimulating your imagination, challenging your mind and widening your vocabulary. Reading can also be a good stress buster - what can be better at the end of a hard day than curling up in front of the fire and losing yourself in a good book.
Books can be educational - what ever topic or subject you want to learn about - there will be books out there to teach you.
Reading is an inexpensive hobby as you can always borrow books from your local library.
It's not always easy to find time to sit down and read, people live busy lives and are always on the go. A good time to read is at bedtime, or instead of watching tv or playing video games take the time to pick up a book.
Reading can be great for children, their minds are still being shaped, like a sponge their brains suck up the knowledge. Getting into the habit of regular reading at a young age can be very beneficial to a child and all the way into adulthood. In the day and age of tv and computers reading is a dying hobby.
